ADHD Sucks

ADHD sucks. Let me tell you how it actually plays out, not the cute version everyone posts about.

You're working on a project. You're in the zone. You're cooking. You're 95% done. Like genuinely almost there. All the hard stuff is figured out. The vision is real. You can see the finish line.

Then you hit the one annoying step. The dumb config thing. The deploy step. The boring form. The tedious cleanup. The thing that's not hard, just annoying. Just tedious. Just not fun.

And your brain goes nope.

Not no. Not later. Just nope. The motivation drains out of your body in real time. You sit there staring at it. You try to push through. You can't. Your brain is already gone.

So what do you do? You open a new file. You start a brand new project. Completely unrelated. Different language. Different idea. Different everything. And suddenly you're in the zone again. You're cooking again. You're 95% done with the new one in like 3 days.

Then the new one hits its annoying step. And you bounce again. To a third project. A fourth. A fifth.

Now you've got 12 projects sitting at 95% done. None of them shipped. None of them finished. All of them just sitting there. Half built graveyards of stuff that was almost something.

And the worst part is you know exactly what's happening. You can see yourself doing it in real time. You're aware. But awareness doesn't fix it. You still can't make yourself sit down and do the boring 5% that would actually ship the thing.

People say just do the hard thing. Just push through. They don't get it. The hard thing isn't hard. The hard thing is fun. The boring thing is what kills you. The boring thing is the wall you can't climb.

So you start project 13. And you tell yourself this one's different. This one I'll finish. And for like 3 days you believe it.

It is what it is.
